NUSCO @ Marina Barrage!!

Si Hui from Dizi here!! haha :) I'm here to blog about the recent NUSCO kite-flying outing @ Marina Barrage!! :) It was a great day of some kite-flying and ALOT of photo-taking! HAHAH! :)) Check out the photos on facebook, I'm too lazy to post them here, and there are TOO MANY too!!

Thankfully it was a great weather, although it was a tad tooooo sunny that Jiafang and me, the 2 early birds, got burnt! We reached there around 230pm, and got so inspired seeing all the kites in the air that we couldn't wait to see OUR kites up there too! :D BUT... hmm we spent the next hour trying fruitlessly to fly our kites, on the way getting "attacked" by them! My kite was a little wilful and wild, and apparently did not seem to like Jiafang very much! It seemed to love banging into her, especially when she is not on her guard. heh heh heh.

We got so demoralised by the minute, and it was much more tiring than i thought it would be! Haha but we didn't want to give up, and we thought it would be quite "throw face" if we didn't manage to fly a single kite by the time the others arrived. We were soooo close at times, it felt almost there! But somehow the kites managed to find their way back to the ground again. :( I finally DID manage to fly the entire length of my kite at one pt!! i really did!! But I only managed to feel yaya for like 10 minutes and the kite came down again. SIGHS.

The rest came slowly after 4; Jazreel, Pey Mun, Kah Yan, Chan How, Jeffery, Qi Ling, Ka Leng and Enoch! They tried some feeble (HAHAHA :P) attempts to fly the kites, but were more enthu in taking photos! hahaa :D If I'm not wrong, only Pey Mun's kite managed to fly up? Hahaha but anw somehow the focus of the outing were on taking photoshoot photos! Pretty and nice photos, many thanks to our 2 pro photographers Enoch and Jazreel! :))

Alright shall end off this rather short summary of our outing that day here! Looking forward to many more outings with NUSCO, and taking tons of nice and memorable photos with you all! :D Have a great holiday everyone! :))

NUSCO Dictionary Part 2

HOLA (OH-la) all beings! (Jia Fang's minions, according to the previous entry?)

Enoch will be happy to see another entry in NUSCO blog. And I am here to add on one more definition into the NUSCO dictionary! I'm KAHYAN, MEINU CLUB VP! :D hahaha. Before I continue penning down anything, I declare that I'm not that excellent a lexicographer as Jia Fang, and my English is not as Boomz as Jia Fang's, otherwise I would be coining more words into the dictionary, so please give me your guidance! LOL!

And since today is the last day of school for Sem 2 in AY2009/2019, I think it calls for a celebration! And also congrats to people like Si Hui and others who have filed for graduation for having enjoyed your awesome years in NUS and NUSCO with amazing friends like ME! We should also need some destressing before we sprint the final lap for the exams! To soon-to-be graduates, enjoy your last and final times of sitting in MPSH, going through headache-inducing examinations! (which reminds me of the NUS matric card spoof video that brings you to places you don't want to go, MPSH.) Big sighhhh.

Furthermore, to thank Jia Fang for coining such a beautiful word of KAHYAN into the NUSCO dictionary, I am here to do my part of dusting the shelves in here!

Enough of the nonsense, here it goes!

JIAFANG [pronounced as how it seems, jia fang, also known as Yong Tau, giving her the full name of Yong Tau Foo Jia Fan, meaning a bowl of Yong Tau Foo with additional rice.]

(rather than giving examples of how jiafang can be used in constructing sentences, I shall give evidences of why Jia Fang is labelled the following)

1) [noun] die-hard shopaholic; spendthrift who spends money like no tomorrow; whose religion is most likely fashion;
evidence: NUSCO went on a trip to her abode, witnessed the amount of clothes she stashed into her wardrobe, under her bed, along the racks, everywhere. The poor cupboard was on the verge of having an avalanche if anyone opens its doors, and poor rails of the cupboard was suffering great amount of tension. And as I quote her, "I never repeat my clothes for one MONTH!" and "I keep a month's worth of NEW clothes as much as I can."

2) [noun] one who has a POWDERFUL grasp of the English language; often spouting boomz and bombastic terms, one such example 'minions'.
evidence: as seen from previous entry, not a need for further elaboration on my part, 'nuff said.

I shall end the entry with a picture of a member of NUSCO Lovely Furry Friends, FLUFFY BABY! :D We should have a NUSCO LOVELY FURRY FRIENDS CLUB, introducing friend #1, FLUFFY BABY, Si Hui's beloved!

NUSCO-tionary - Soft Launch x-D

Testing testing, 1, 2, 3... Ahem.

Greetings to everyone! :) [Yes, that includes you, my minions. You know who you are... x-P] *clears throat* Ahh... In an attempt to shake things up a little bit here -yes the dust gathers quickly in cyberspace >.< - and to render this admirable platform for us to share our love for all things for NUSCO a little less intimidating and formal -what's the inhibition holding you back anw?! heh. - here's a soft launch of the inaugural NUSCO-tionary! :D A brand new lexicon brimming with potential, it shall aspire to record the vernacular history of NUSCO - and it needs some lovin'! x-D This humble amateur lexicographer - that is, yours truly x-D - with her limited grasp of the English language, shall attempt to create entries that are accurate and definitive. どうぞよろしくお願いします! 请多多指教! :))

Lexicographer's note: This is merely a soft launch as yours truly wanted to delay penning the inaugural post till after the exams when I have more time [I suppose it's rather apparent by now that I suffer from a severe case of typing diarrhea =\ ] and will be in a better frame of mind [I've 4 exams/CAs next wk! x_X ] to write a wicked post - I mean, it's the FIRST post, so it's gotta be of some standard, no?? - but that's about a month from now...!! By then, the initial enthusiasm may have fizzled out...... So please make do with this for now, and hopefully it'll provide some respite in your intensive mugging regime! :)

KAHYAN !!!

KAHYAN [kahy-en, key-] /kaɪˈɛn, keɪ-/ :

1) [adjective] apathetic; uncaring, bordering on callous. generally used to describe a self-absorbed female who watches the travails of others with indifference, seemingly oblivious to their struggles.

e.g. "You're not a telekinetic and there's no such thing as 'eye power'. Don't be KAHYAN and help me move this cello!!!"

2) [noun] raven-haired female who is a self-proclaimed beauty; embodies narcissism and loves to pollute photo collections with innumerable self-portrait shots, all with an identical silly smile and pose. Also noted for her unabashed display of miserly ways, and for sniffing her long tresses.

e.g. "You're an absolute KAHYAN - stop preening and change your pose!"

To celebrate the inauguration of this dictionary, and despite the fact that this is just a soft launch, this is an exclusive video definition of KAHYAN:

Fe·lix [fee-liks] /ˈfilɪks/ (3) :

1) [noun] unglamorous male past his prime, around 40-50 years of age, with a unpleasant raucous laugh. More often than not, this creature is caught snoozing, with a uncanny resemblance to the Pokemon, Snorlax.

e.g. "What's with that paunch and that pose?? You're such a FELIX!" *may be used as an adjective as well*

2) [adjective] gluttonous. generally used to describe a male observed constantly eating, anytime, anywhere.

e.g. "Eating AGAIN?? Why are you so FELIX??"

Jef·fery [jef-ree] /ˈdʒɛfri/ (4) :

1) [noun] a veritable workoholic in the truest sense of the term, frequently observed to be disheveled and unkempt, staring bug-eyed at the screen of a Macbook/laptop, or a sheath of papers. Noted for a penchant to impose his workhorse tendencies on others.

e.g. "We're here to have fun, not watch you pull a JEFFERY, typing away on your laptop!"

2) [adjective] dirty-minded, with an inclination to interpret speech, gestures, actions - essentially anything - in a lewd and bawdy manner.

- synonyms: QILING

e.g. "Stop corrupting us with those X-rated JEFFERY comments - no one here understands them and we never will!

Qiling [chi-ling] /qílíng/ (2) :

1) [adjective] dirty-minded, with an inclination to interpret speech, gestures, actions - essentially anything - in a lewd and bawdy manner.

- synonyms: JEFFERY

e.g. "Stop corrupting us with those X-rated QILING comments - no one here understands them and we never will!

2) [noun] an aspiring male stand-up comedian and actor cum Bollywood star wannabe who breaks into song and dance spontaneously. Noted for an amazing repertoire of hilarious expressions on a flexible, rubber-like vast expanse of a face.

e.g. "That must be a QILING singing out of the blue again!"
